Role Description: Be a part of the Clinical Care Team-- as a Medical Assistant, you will engage our patients to develop lifelong well-being and health. Contincuare is seeking a Medical Assistant to make a difference in people’s lives that provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons under direction of a physician or nurse in Medical Centers.

Assignment Capsule: * Assist with daily patient flow in areas as needed.

  • Gives direct patient care and performs indirect patient care activities, under the direction of a physician or nurse.

  • Assists physician with examination as required and assists other staff members in providing patient care.

  • Communicates observations of patient's status to nurse-in-charge.

  • Organize follow-up care and instructions for patients with test results.

  • Adheres to Nursing Department policies and procedures.

  • Assist with daily patient flow in clinic area as needed.

  • Patient teaching and education.

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of the EMR system, including arriving patients and scheduling.

  • Documents in the EMR

  • Handles prescription refills, where applicable

  • Meets established expectations, takes initiative, and is accountable for results

  • Strong organization and time management skills and able to prioritize and multi-task

  • Can problem-solve and independently make compliant decisions appropriate to the role

  • Provide guidance and support to medical or clerical staff as needed

  • Attends all required meetings, in-services and other events

  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department, clinic and organization.

    Role Essentials:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED

  • Minimum of 1 year professional experience as a Medical Assistant in ‘back-office’ direct patient care

  • Bilingual English/Spanish- Must be able to speak, read, and write in both languages without limitations or assistance

  • Active Medical Assistant Certificate as a Certified Medical Assistant/CMA or as a Registered Medical Assistant/RMA OR at least 1 year of professional experience as a Medical Assistant with the ability to complete a Humana approved certification within one year from hire date (Please note if you are currently certified, some CMA and RMA programs may still require completion of Humana approved certification program)

  • Experience in a fast pace/high volume environment

  • Experience with MS Outlook

  • Basic Computer knowledge

  • CPR certification

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records

  • Hands-on professional Phlebotomy experience

  • Must be a team player with excellent communication skills

  • This role is considered patient facing and is part of Humana’s Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB

    ROLE DESIRABLES

  • Experience with HEDIS

  • Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from the following: American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, and/or American Medical Technologist
