Humana Associate Director, Data Governance in Helena, Montana

ESS Business Intelligence is an Enterprise Shared Services (ESS) team focused on data, reporting and data science supporting Humana's Service Operations. The team is focused on converting data to actionable insights for our business partners who can utilize to reduce administrative cost and improve the customer's experience.

The Associate Director, Data Governance supports all aspects of configuration control, data management, and deficiency reporting. The Associate Director, Data Governance requires a solid understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across department(s).

The Associate Director, Data Governance will work within the ESS Business Intelligence team. This team is focused on Data Science, Data Consulting, Data Visualization and Reporting.

This position will: Lead Data Governance and Stewardship

  • o Including participation in corporate committees

  • o Governing access to service data and ensuring minimum necessary

  • o Managing appropriate use and definition of service data

  • Lead the development of data requirements for system enhancement

  • Manage and maintain data in SQL Server, Azure Cloud, etc.

  • Collaborate with other departments and leaders across the enterprise

  • Exhibit strong communication skills

  • Ability to interact with Humana IT departments in developing technical requirements to access data

  • Be an innovative thinker with an innate curiosity around data

  • Be self-motivated and possess the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Possess the capacity to maintain confidentiality and work independently

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree

  • 5 or more years of experience in leading Data Governance Strategy/Processes with a foundational knowledge and skillset in data analytics

  • 3 or more years of leadership experience with direct reports (Ideally leading a remote team of Enterprise data governance professionals)

  • Technical documentation skills with (For example) assessing ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram) AND/OR Data Taxonomy Development

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to include the ability to communicate and present technical/financial details to executive level leadership and/or senior level internal and external partners/leaders

  • Ability to balance competing priorities to drive for the best outcome

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and ownership and anticipates future consequences and trends accurately

  • Experience working in an environment with a high level of ambiguity (Shifting needs, stopping on project and focusing on a new project/task)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

  • Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within a large healthcare organization

  • Experience leading the development data assets within a cloud environment (preferably Azure)

  • Well versed in SDLC

  • Azure certification

  • Experience in Database structure design at an enterprise level within a Fortune 100 company

  • Certified SAFe® Product Owner/ Product Manager or equivalent

  • Project Management Certification (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma Certification

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$126,800 - $174,500 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
