Humana is seeking an Information Technology Strategic Consultant who will be accountable to provide an ongoing strategic view and direction on multiple initiatives. You will partner with project managers and project teams to define and meet project milestones and objectives. The role will encompass objectives in the following areas:

Workforce Planning

  • In conjunction with various IT leaders and with IT Finance, build out a staffing plan for the next 3-5 years, focusing on roles that are critical to the IT strategic plan. Include in that plan both the headcounts and the skills needed, as well as timing of the various staffing needs.

  • In conjunction with HR and other stakeholders in the talent management domain (including IT leaders at all levels), determine the capabilities mix of the current IT staff, both in maturity and in headcount.

  • Compare the future staffing needs to the current staff and identify both gaps and overages.

  • In conjunction with all stakeholders, design a workforce strategy that addresses any mismatches between the current staff and the staffing plan. Include in this plan the development of current staff, the movement of current staff, and the acquisition of new staff.

  • In conjunction with all stakeholders, execute the workforce strategy.

    Capabilities Management

  • Working with IT leaders, IT domain experts, and HR representatives, build out role definitions for all IT-specific roles.

  • Working with IT domain experts and HR representatives, build out a taxonomy of technical competencies and skills, including demonstrating behaviors. (Include non-technical and business competencies and skills as needed and allowed.)

  • Maintain and update the role definitions and taxonomies as needed to reflect changes in the industry and in the company.

    Performance Improvement

  • Develop performance standards for all roles, competencies, and skills.

  • Develop assessments (self, peer, leader, organizational) to measure current performance of IT staff.

  • In conjunction with stakeholders, especially IT Learning Services, develop improvement plans to address gaps discovered that exist across IT staff. (This is not the same as building IDPs for individual associates.)

    Role Essentials

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Project management experience

  • Highly consultative with experience communicated and influencing key stakeholders

  • Professional image and excellent communication skills required

  • Possess a solid understanding of technology and talent development, especially capability and competency management and workforce planning Role Desirables

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field

  • Experience in Workforce Planning and Management

  • Experience in Organizational Development

  • Skilled in IT Learning Services

  • PMP certification a plus

  • Six Sigma Certification also a plus Reporting Relationships

  • You will report to a Manager, ITSO. This area is under the leadership of the SVP and Chief Information Officer. Additional Information
