Role Title: Lead Medical Assistant Assignment: Continucare Medical Center Location: Margate
Role Description: Be a part of the Clinical Care Team-- as a Lead Medical Assistant, you will engage our patients to develop lifelong well-being and health. Continucare is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to make a difference in people’s lives that provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons under direction of a physician or nurse in Medical Centers.
The Lead Medical Assistant oversees the work of other Medical Assistants, acts as a subject-matter expert and go-to person and may assist with questions or escalated issues. Acts as a Medical Assistant, typically reports to a Patient Care Supervisor or Center Administrator/Manager.
Assignment Capsule * Assist with daily patient flow in areas as needed.
Gives direct patient care and performs indirect patient care activities, under the direction of a physician or nurse.
Assists physician with examination as required and assists other staff members in providing patient care.
Communicates observations of patient's status to nurse-in-charge.
Organize follow-up care and instructions for patients with test results.
Adheres to Nursing Department policies and procedures.
Assist with daily patient flow in clinic area as needed.
Patient teaching and education.
Meets established expectations, takes initiative, and is accountable for results
Strong organization and time management skills and able to prioritize and multi-task
Can problem-solve and independently make compliant decisions appropriate to the role
Provide guidance and support to medical or clerical staff as needed
Attends all required meetings, in-services and other events
Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department, clinic and organization.
Medical Assistant Certification (CMA), Registration (RMA), or Diploma as a Medical Assistant (clinical/back-office)
*Ability to complete a Humana approved certification within one year from hire date (Please note: If you are currently certified/CMA or registered/RMA,/some CMA and RMA programs may still require completion of a Humana approved certification program within one year from hire date)/
High school diploma or equivalent GED
Minimum of 2 years professional experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical ‘back-office’ environment
Hands-on professional Phlebotomy experience
Bilingual English/Spanish (Fluent Levels in Both)
Experience in a fast pace/high volume environment
Experience with MS Outlook
Basic Computer knowledge
Must be a team player with excellent communication skills
This role is considered patient facing and is part of Humana’s Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected for this role, you will be required to be screened for TB ROLE DESIRABLES
2 years of experience providing services within a clinical, hospital, or physician office setting
Experience with Electronic Medical Records
Experience with HEDIS
Lead or Supervisory professional experience- highly desired
Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from any of the following: American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association, American Registry of Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, and/or American Medical Technologist Additional Information:
