Assignment Capsule Humana Finance Shared Services, Corporate Accounting is seeking a Senior Accountant who will lead and become a subject matter expert for the newly formed Lease Center of Excellence (L-CoE). The Senior Accountant will engage with teams across the organization such as Corporate Real Estate, Procurement and IT to provide guidance, document, administer, maintain and ensure compliance with lease accounting standards and any related internal policies and procedures, including:
Analyze contracts and provide guidance on data sources related to all real estate, vehicle, IT equipment, furniture and other miscellaneous type leases
Oversee and review data abstraction for all new, modified, and terminated leases
Prepare financial reporting packages for 10-Q/K and internal/external audits related to leasing
Perform and monitor various control activities and partner with Internal Audit to ensure SOX compliance
Act as a business partner on behalf of the Corporate Accounting Office to key functional departments, including Corporate Real Estate, Procurement, and IT, in order to identify and implement improvements to leasing practices
Ensure organizational compliance with lease accounting guidelines and internal lease accounting policies and procedures
Manage ad hoc requests and projects as necessary
Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.
Capable of independently managing business relationships and building trust.
Learn quickly through self-study via communication and collaboration with other associates.
Ability to communicate clearly & concisely.
Ability to work with a cross-functional team.
Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Knowledge or desire to learn about lease accounting under both the existing lease standard (ASC 840) and the new lease standard (ASC 842 - effective 2019)
Demonstrates the ability to lead and communicate effectively with management, cross-functional teams, and external auditors
Proven ability to identify and solve complex problems with a logical/systematic approach
Desire to work effectively with external vendors as well as internal employees
Analytical and communication skills as well as the ability to think innovatively
Strong attention to detail with the willingness to challenge results
Comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, SQL, Access and PowerPoint Role Desirables
Prior experience in accounting, internal audit, contract management, procurement, leasing and/or fixed assets
Prior experience within the insurance industry
Certified Public Accountant license Reporting Relationships
This role reports to an Accounting Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Financial Officer.
