Humana is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst to use their analytical skills to recommend changes and improvements to Humana’s current practices in the areas of reserving and financial reporting.

  • Analyze historical claims to develop sufficient reserves for Medicare, Medicaid, and Specialty lines of business
  • Research and develop cutting-edge reserving techniques to develop more accurate and timely reserve processes and reporting
  • Collaborate with financial and other actuarial business partners to help drive trend analytics and pricing strategies
  • Perform studies on claims processing and financial recovery patterns to adjust future reserve processes
  • Ensure regulatory requirements for reserve adequacy, premium deficiency, SOX requirements, and others are being met timely and accurately

    Role Essentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Successful completion of at least 3 actuarial exams
  • Meets requirements for Humana’s Actuarial Professional Development Program (APDP)
  • Strong communication skills

    Role Desirables

  • Prior experience with data analysis, querying and reporting experience

  • Proficient knowledge with typical actuarial analytical tools [e.g., Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic, and some database application (e.g., Access, SQL or SAS)
  • Time management skills
  • Expresses with confidence the Actuarial work they have done
  • Able to translate Actuarial terminology in their discipline
