Assignment Capsule

Humana is seeking a Strategic Consultant of Strategy Development who will use discipline and expertise to influence, lead and educate people and groups in order to optimize Market Operations results. You will initiate, plan, and frame-up highly visible projects and establishes requirements while consulting and gaining commitment from key stakeholders. These projects can be categorized as follows:

Bid Strategy and Analysis

  • Create bid related market competitor summaries relative to Humana

  • Assess new bid strategies for profit improvement on an ongoing basis and create financial models to determine if viable

    Create Long Term Competitive Operational Strategy for each major market

  • Review Systemic risks in each market in the Gulf States Region

  • Create three year and five year operational strategy plan

    Create Operational Savings Strategy and Assess Process improvement / Bottleneck reduction

  • Assess existing Trend Bender projects

  • Work in the field with Trend Bender implementers to determine process improvement and bottleneck resolution

    Organize Data into summaries for Management to use in Strategy Reviews

  • Create financial and operational summaries

  • Create and administer BIDE/County Sheet summary and replication by sub-market by product

  • Create and administer clinical summary reporting for Regions related to FR, FER, and APTs

    Ad Hoc Analysis and Other Responsibilities

  • Perform ad hoc analysis

  • Serve as a strategic consultant to internal clients by analyzing each situation

  • recognizes and identifies opportunities

  • Create partnerships and alliances to accomplish the goals of the markets

  • Create other recurring operations metric reports as needed

  • Partner with each of the region finance directors, corporate finance directors and actuarial directors.

    Role Essentials

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Strategic thinking and planning capabilities; organized and detail-oriented

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Enthusiasm and motivation is essential; a confident change-agent; strong presentation skills (oral and written)

  • Strong analytical capabilities

  • Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint

  • Working knowledge of healthcare Medicare products/ services and operations

  • Prior experience with Medicare finance

    Role Desirables

  • Graduate degree preferred

  • SQL, SAS query techniques to access relational databases

  • Prior Medicare insurance operations or finance experience

  • Knowledge of Humana’s internal policies, procedures and systems
